Great Truckin' Songs of the Renaissance is the debut studio album by TISM (or This Is Serious Mum), largely recorded between January and March 1988 at Platinum Studios in South Yarra, Victoria, and released 26 September 1988 by Elvis Records on vinyl, cassette and CD. It borrows its title from TISM's first private demo tape, recorded in December 1982, shortly after the band's formation (though none of the material from that tape is featured on the album).
A double album, Great Truckin' Songs contains a selection of songs which had become popular in the band's live sets on the first disc (including the band's previous two singles, "40 Years – Then Death" and "The Ballad of John Bonham's Coke Roadie"), while the second, subtitled "This Record is Not as Good as the Other One", features a collage of various material, including selections from the band's bedroom recordings.
