The Author was Lennon’s last personal assistant for the last 21 Months of his life. He witnessed Lennon living like a prisoner, terrified of encounters with his fans. Now, it seems like he was on the money considering what happened to him in December 1980. Had he stayed in the U.K it is almost certain he would not have been shot. He may have died later rather like Harrison of Lung Cancer as he chain smoked. This contrasts with his Interviews where he would brag about how great it was to be able to walk about and not be bugged by fans.
